Termination & Refund Policy

This policy applies to the attorney-client relationship between you and Wang Law Firm, LLC (“the Firm”). Unless your engagement agreement states otherwise, these general rules apply.

1. Your right to end representation

You may end our representation at any time, for any reason or no reason. Please notify us in writing (email or letter). If your matter is in litigation or before the immigration court, the attorney’s withdrawal may require the court’s or agency’s permission, and we may need to continue necessary procedural steps until withdrawal is granted.

2. How fees are settled

After representation ends, we issue a final invoice and accounting based on the work performed and its reasonable value.

• Hourly matters: you pay for time and costs incurred through the effective date. Any unused balance of a retainer held in our trust account (IOLTA) is refunded.
• Flat-fee matters: if you end representation before the matter is completed, you are entitled to a refund of the unearned portion. The earned portion is measured by the reasonable value of work performed (quantum meruit), with reference to standard rates: attorney time US$350–500 per hour depending on complexity and urgency; paralegal or clerical time US$150 per hour.

3. Non-refundable third-party costs

Once paid or incurred, the following are generally not refundable: government filing and service fees (USCIS, Department of State, EOIR and others); translation, interpretation, notarization, authentication and credential-evaluation fees; and courier and postage costs.

4. Your file

After representation ends, you are entitled to copies of the documents in your file that you provided or that were prepared for you.

5. Timing

Any refund is generally processed within 30 days after the final accounting is complete and payment details are confirmed.
